Pesto

Jul 20, 2019

Basil from the garden mixed in a Cuisinart along with garlic, Asiago, pine nuts, olive oil, and lemon. If you want the vegan version use nutritional yeast instead of Asiago and if you can’t swing the high price of pine nuts, walnuts taste good as well.

Typically Sweet Genovese Basil is grown around here. It produces a high yield and is relatively easy to germinate and grow. Another type is Citrus Basil which gives a more complex flavor and freshness to this aromatic. Mix the Pesto in a salad, spread on bread, or add to pasta – its a great addition to a lot of different kinds of foods.
