Photographed in July on an island in Maine consisting of multiple images – in addition to nasturtiums there are daisies, rosy meadowsweet, and guelder rose as well as graphics e.g. ATCG referencing DNA, hexagons, and a circular DNA fingerprint illustration.

The image was inspired by summer flowers at their best as well as human impact unique to our time (e.g. Epigenetics) and is part of an ongoing project exploring the Anthropocene illustrating nature and human impact on a micro level.
