This was photographed in July on an island in Maine. It’s a collage of multiple images – in addition to nasturtiums there are daisies, rosy meadowsweet, and guelder rose as well as quasi scientific graphics e.g. ATCG referencing DNA, hexagons, and a circular DNA plotter type illustration.

This image was inspired by summer flowers at their best as well as human impact unique to our times. This includes Epigenetics and DNA Methylation and is part of an ongoing project inspired by the Anthropocene illustrating nature and human impact on a micro level.

The collage technique is an attempt to show everything in nature is intermingled with everything else such as air, water, land, flowers, bushes, soil, and the sun in a complex web of life.
