Flowering Cherry I
from the series Floracene, 2019, Limited Edition
ABOUT
The primary image is of a Japanese Flowering Cherry tree (Prunus Serrulata) including images of the tree from a side view and another of the petals that have fallen below. This type of cherry tree is anthropogenic meaning it lives in human developed areas and at the edge of forests but the leaves, stems and seeds are toxic to pets like cats, dogs and horses.
There’s also ATCG lettering and hexagonal patterns embedded in the image referencing changing genetic processes. The overall effect is to represent the beauty of nature as it is today including human impacts and how people increasingly experience the world via technology.
