The name of the series “Floracene” comes from the word for plants (flora) and new (cene). It refers to the Anthropocene, a term used to describe human impact on the planet.

Photographs of flowers, leaves, trees and other vegetation are integrated with graphics such as grids, hexagons, lettering (ATCG) and scan lines, referencing changes in the environment via processes such as epigenetics whereby human impact is changing how genes express themselves in plants and the natural environment.
