Immersia

Immersia (i.e. the state of immersion) is a series of photos of pine needles and leaves immersed in snow. Starting around 2014 I became curious about these fallen cast-offs, how they created a distinctive figure ground with gestural expressive shapes in a transformative state. The horizontal lines reference scan lines used in electronic communication alluding to how nature, and our relationship to it, is different today than say 500 years ago.
